I don’t want to brag, but I’m a card-carrying member of AAA. Have been for almost ten years now, and will continue to be as long as I can drive a car. AAA has saved my butt so many times, too many to actually put a number on it.
Recently a friend and I were rescued off the side of the highway in Ohio, after the gears on her car went. The woman on the phone was beyond sweet (I find that to be true of all AAA operators) and helpful. And you know, when it’s one in the morning, and it’s dark and cold and you’re sitting on the side of a highway, it’s just nice to know someone is coming to help you.
The young man that eventually showed up to give us a tow was kind as well. The AAA dispatcher had woken him up, but he was still nice to us and allowed our two canine companions to ride in the truck with us, instead of being jostled around in the broken-down car.
Most of the reasons I’ve had to call AAA were because of my own stupidity, mainly locking my keys in the car or leaving the lights on overnight and draining the battery. I’ve done that one a lot. But it doesn’t matter how stupid I am, AAA still comes to bail me out, which is more than I can say for a lot of “friends” of mine. AAA doesn’t judge me, or treat me with scorn; they just come and help.
And what many people may not know is that AAA offers members much more than Roadside Assistance. They not only help you plan a vacation, they can help you save money on car rentals and hotels. They can help with maps and directions, help with traveler’s checks and foreign currency exchange, and much, much more. If you are not already a member of AAA, I highly recommend you check out there website and join. For a small yearly membership fee, you can have peace of mind in knowing help is on the way, no matter how late it is or how stupid you were.
And in case you’re wondering, I have nothing to do with AAA. I mean, I’m not getting paid anything if you join. I just really like their services and wanted you to know about them. AAA: Awesome, Anytime, Anywhere.
